I'd rather die

Sugarland, Texas has been named the 3rd best place to live by CNNMoney. Trust me, I have been to Sugarland (an upper middle-class suburb a good 20 miles outside Houston), and I would rather die.

How can the human race survive the next hundred years?

Stephen Hawking asks, "In a world that is in chaos politically, socially and environmentally, how can the human race sustain another 100 years?"

My brief response:
Others in the past have thought the world was ending and it didn't - the human race always pulls through. There are a lot of intelligent, creative, and caring people out there who are important in solving this world's problems. They have come through in other difficult times in history, and they will come through now. However, I do believe that things will get a lot worse before they get better. Unfortunately people are so caught up with their daily lives that they need chaos and mass destruction before they will be motivated to demand change. When that time comes, change will happen, and eventually, things will get better!! And yes, I am and always have been an optimist, albeit a cautious one.
